The Escape Cottage is just like a self-catering holiday house, but it’s filled with clues and puzzles, all tied together into a story for you to discover. So book the house with a group of friends or family, put your detective hats on and have lots of fun!
After you book, you’ll receive a taste of the mystery you’ll be solving, as well as the first puzzle which should tell you how to open the keysafe. Then – assuming you solve that one – you’ll have the house to yourselves for a whole long weekend to uncover its secrets.
Some of the puzzles are physical, while some involve technology so they should respond to you by themselves. And part of the experience is a treasure hunt round Tewkesbury, hopefully a fun way to discover this historic town.
The puzzles should amuse you for a fair while, but they won’t take up the whole weekend – so you should still have time to go on local adventures and explore the area.
It should appeal to anyone with a love of solving mysteries and a sense of fun! It obviously helps if you like escape rooms, but this experience is different as you can take it at a slower pace, so you don’t need to be an escape room whizz to enjoy it.
The amount of puzzle-solving required is flexible – the main prize is achievable without excessive sleuthing but there are also two harder bonus prizes for those who really love puzzles.
The house isn’t set up for young children, but the experience should suit groups of friends or families with older children.
The house sleeps up to five – though if you really want to come as a group of six, let us know as it’s possible to set up an extra mattress in the single room. You may fall over each other though and we won’t charge any extra for this.
We think the experience works best as a three-night weekend (check in on Friday afternoon/evening and stay till Monday morning), so you have plenty of time to relax around the puzzles and you get a good chance to explore the lovely local area. But if you can only come for two nights, you can stay from Fri-Sun and check out late on the Sunday (4pm).
